Please join us for casual and friendly discussion of secular humanism, history, politics and culture. At the Urban Fare Cafe, you can get a coffee and muffin for under three bucks!
We will have different topics every meeting, decided upon by the previous meeting.
Islamophobia – What does it mean?
M-103 proposes that the government should “recognize the need to quell the increasing public climate of hate and fear,” and “condemn Islamophobia and all forms of systemic racism and religious discrimination and take note of the House of Commons’ petition e-411 and the issues raised by it.” It asks that the House of Commons’ Heritage Committee study how the government could “develop a whole-of-government approach to reducing or eliminating systemic racism and religious discrimination including Islamophobia, in Canada, while ensuring a community centered focus with a holistic response through evidence-based policy-making
This is a family friendly meet-up to socialize and discuss the topics relevant to secular humanists.
We can’t offer babysitting, but the cafe is a large space which can accommodate a table for kids to draw and eat.
Look for us at the end of the cafe by the screens. We will have a CFI sign on the table.
We are meeting the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays every month.
